How to Wear a Sticky Bra So It Actually Stays On (and Lasts)

Most sticky bra complaints, the cup that peels off by the second dance, the one that lost its stick after two wears, come down to three things: what was on the skin before it went on, where it was placed, and how it was washed. Get those right and a good silicone bra like the Shapify backless sticky bra lasts dozens of wears.
Before you put it on
Adhesive sticks to clean, dry skin and to nothing else. On the day you wear it, keep moisturiser, body oil, sunscreen, talc, perfume and deodorant off the chest entirely. If you have already applied something, wash the area with soap, rinse and dry fully. Sweat is the other enemy, so put the bra on in a cool room, after you have cooled down from the shower, and before you start rushing around.
Putting it on: the fold-and-press method
- Unclip the two cups so each can be placed independently.
- Fold one cup outward along its centre so the adhesive faces you.
- Decide the lift you want. For cleavage, place the cup lower and further out toward the underarm; for a natural shape, centre it over the bust.
- Press the outer edge of the cup onto the skin first, then smooth it inward, holding for ten seconds.
- Repeat on the other side, checking both cups sit at the same height.
- Clip the cups together at the centre and tighten. The clip is what creates lift; the adhesive only holds the cups in place.
If a cup goes on crooked, peel it off gently, wipe the skin dry and place it again. Do not stretch it into position after it has stuck.
Sizing
Sticky bra sizes go by cup, not band, because there is no band. Choose your usual cup letter; the Shapify bra comes in B, C and D. If you are between cups, take the smaller one, which sits more securely. For a D and above, especially under a heavy or very low-cut blouse, adhesive body tape gives more lift than any cup-only bra; many customers use tape for lift and the bra for shape.
Taking it off and washing it
Peel from the top edge slowly; never rip. Rinse the adhesive side under warm running water with a drop of mild hand soap, rubbing gently with your fingertips until it feels tacky again. Do not use a cloth or brush, which shed fibres into the adhesive. Shake off the water and leave the cups sticky-side up to air dry, out of sunlight. Once dry, press the protective film back on, or store the cups face to face so nothing touches the adhesive. Never machine wash, never towel dry.
How many wears will it last?
Cared for this way, dozens. What kills a sticky bra early is oil and lotion on the skin, towel fibres in the adhesive, and being left face down on a dusty dresser. If the stick fades, one careful wash usually restores it.
Is it safe?
On healthy skin, yes; the adhesive is a skin-safe silicone. If you have very sensitive skin, eczema or a sunburn on the chest, test a small patch first and skip it while the skin is irritated. Remove it gently, and give the skin a break between long wears.
Sticky bra under a saree blouse
It is the standard answer for backless and deep-back blouses and cholis. Wear the nude shade under light blouses and black under dark ones. If the blouse is very fitted, a shaping bodysuit over the sticky bra smooths the sides and back at the same time.
Quick answers
Why does my sticky bra keep falling off? Lotion or sweat on the skin, or adhesive clogged with fibres. Wash the skin, wash the bra, try again.
Can I wear it while sweating or in the rain? Light sweat is fine once it has bonded; heavy sweat or a downpour will loosen it. Body tape holds better in humid conditions.
Does it work for a small bust? Yes; use the clip to pull the cups together for shape.
