What to wear under a saree, by problem

A note on saree shapewear petticoats

Many brands sell a shapewear petticoat, a stretchy skirt that replaces the cotton petticoat. Shapify does not make one; our approach is to shape the body under whatever petticoat you already own, so the same pieces also work under a lehenga, a kurti and a dress. How to look slim in a saree

Three things do most of the work: a smooth midriff (tummy tucker), a blouse that fits at the back (bodysuit or a well-fitted bra), and pleats that fall straight, which comes from tying the petticoat firmly at the navel over the shapewear rather than above it. Fabric matters too: a lighter chiffon or georgette drapes closer to the body than heavy silk, and a darker border draws the eye downward. Sizing for long functions

Wedding shapewear is worn for eight to ten hours, so choose the size you can breathe in, not the size that gives the tightest hold. Use the size guide; when between sizes, go up.

Does saree shapewear hide belly fat?

It smooths and holds the belly so the drape falls straight; it does not remove fat, and no shapewear can.

Can I wear a tummy tucker under a lehenga?

Yes. Under a lehenga it goes on before the lehenga skirt, and a bodysuit takes care of the choli line.

Will it show at the midriff?

The tummy tucker's band is seamless; under a saree it sits under the petticoat line. If your blouse is very short, choose the bodysuit so the shapewear ends at the blouse.

A saree shaper, sometimes sold as a shapewear petticoat or fish cut underskirt, is a stretchy skirt that replaces the cotton petticoat. Shapify does not make one. Why keep the cotton petticoat

A regular petticoat gives the pleats a firm waistband to tuck into and leaves you a full stride for walking, sitting on the floor and climbing mandap steps. Shaping the body underneath it gives the smooth line without the restricted stride of a fitted shaper skirt.

Under a lehenga
